DescriptionThis is the earliest Kahles drawing/illustration that I've seen. The pen work is terrific, as Kahles breaks out his hatching and cross-hatching chops. The piece illustrates a scene from Shakespeare's "Merry Wives of Windsor". 1894.Social/Sharing |

Great illustration showing wealth and class of Shakespeare's world as a broke Falstaff tries to seduce the lady of the house. This probably depicts what happened when the man of the house finds out what Flastaff is trying to do in one of Shakespeare's comedies. Technically fine with the visual style that delighted audiences of the day.
