Love the how Mikel really leaned into the styling on this. Composition is fantastic with the use of negative space almost as a character itself. Great commission!
High voltage and hard edged. It connects with the audience with style and flair. Melki brainstorms and comes up with a composition that demonstrates that an artist takes risks in order to triumph.
Definitely a hint of Moore in this cool & unique piece! He's the smallest figure on the page, but Nightcrawler steals the show, IMHO
Very cool, fun piece! I wonder though, is the market willing to accept another Tradd Moore? There certainly is precedent, as with Sienkiewicz after Adams, Jimenez after Pérez and Bradshaw after Adams. I guess we'll see!
I've been watching his work for a couple years now. The Tradd style is so simgular that it is very difficult to stomach the same from someone else, for me. It seems impossible that someone's natural style would be so similar to something so much outside the norm already. I think Michel makes no bones of his admiration for Tradd, and his willingness to attack that style of drawing is admirable. I reached out for a commission after I felt his art matured into a voice more uniquely his, and he continues to evolve. He has graduated now and is working full time as an engineer I believe, so I think he will have less time for his art - I hope not.

I just saw from your comments that this guy is an engineering student? Wow. Talk him into staying with art. :) There can be two Tradd's. Just because it took years for many people to recognize the genius of Kirby, and then emulate him, doesn't mean that Tradd shouldn't get that right away. His genius was picked up quickly. I love the composition of this, and, obviously, his style. Cool find. Congrats!
