Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #69 Cover Prelim ED HANNIGAN featuring 2nd Appearance of Cloak and Dagger

Last night was a GREAT night! Bill Cox hosted Chuck Costas and Lawrence Klein selling art that helped Ed and Heidi Hannigan, with all of the money going to them. I had to participate to help this legend who does not get enough attention or credit. Myself and a few fellow collectors from the community also sent Super Chats to Ed that Bill is giving all of the money to him. I want to thank my fellow collectors who did so as well. The art sold was not cheap, but then again, helping a legend who can use it is priceless.

Ed had an incredible impact on me through both his Cloak and Dagger Peter Parker run and as a cover artist. I love his covers from this time period, and am fortunate to have one of my all time favorites in Detective #523. But this is about Ed and Cloak and Dagger.

I remember being about 13 years old, and Cloak and Dagger hitting in Peter Parker #64, and not being able to afford it. The only way I could afford it was to borrow some money, go to Comic Investments in South Philly when they had their monthly half price sale, then take the bus to Center City Philadelphia and walk to Fat Jack's, and sell the books to Mike that he could resell and have enough money to buy the Peter Parker and then have money to give back to my uncle. And it was WORTH IT!

The genius of Bill Mantlo gave these great creations character, but Ed with Al Milgrom defined their look, and gave them the gravitas that they deserve.

Synopsis for "In Darkness Seldom Seen!"

Cloak and Dagger are back and have resumed their vigilante war on drugs. Their quest has taken them to an abandoned elementary school, where the two murder a number of drug dealers that are stationed there. Meanwhile, Spider-Man visits his old childhood home where he reflects on the death of his Uncle Ben but leaves when he hears police sirens and decides to follow them.

This brings Spider-Man to the scene where Cloak and Dagger have murdered the drug dealers. Finding Cloak and Dagger at the scene, he confronts them which leads to a battle where he learns that their next target is Silvermane. Spider-Man is easily defeated by the combined power of Cloak and Dagger, who depart after incapacitating the wall-crawler.

The next day, Peter struggles with his classes and the fact that he lost his teacher's assistant position. When Marcy tries to talk to him about the conflict Peter had with Biff, Peter brushes her off and leaves as Spider-Man. Trying to learn the location of Silvermane to try and protect him, Spider-Man comes to a dead end asking Jean DeWolff for assistance. He eventually decides to go to the Kingpin for help, who openly turns over the address of Silvermane's current location.

There, Spider-Man arrives just as Cloak and Dagger do, who intend to murder Silvermane who is confined to a deathbed. Spider-Man tries to defend the crippled crime lord but fails, and Dagger seemingly kills Silvermane with one of her light daggers. Cloak and Dagger leave Spider-Man alone with the seemingly dead Silvermane.
