Description

Normally when I get a history commission, I try to pick a character, battle or scene that sums up an issue. New Mutants 50 is a double sized issue that merges and ties up several plot lines Claremont had going, so 1 piece was never gonna cut it. I love Dave Law’s art and his unique voice, so I got up with him about doing a triptych for the issue, just asking him to look over the issue and decide what he wanted to do from the wealth of options. After the first few he finished that I was loving, I asked if he had scrapped options he wanted to explore. So we ended up with 5 pieces summarizing the issue.

Xavier has been off in space with the Starjammers. When Magik escapes limbo, she teleports to a sketch planet they're trying to do some business on, and just about gets human trafficked before the Starjammers blow their cover to save her. I loved that Butch snuck some other well known aliens into the scenes in the book, so I asked Dave to keep the spirit the same and throw in a Xenomorph.

Wonderful commission commemorating one of the best issues of the entire series. New Mutants #50 falls into the category of books that I read so often as a kid that it pretty much fell apart.
