Description
In Speed Comics #44 (Jan/Feb 1947) which is the last issue, Honey and Slapso smuggle Umbriago into America which is exactly where this page starts. Oddly, with Speed ending, the Blonde Bomber next appeared in Green Hornet #32 (Jan/Feb 1947) but poor old Umbriago was nowhere to be found.

Man that is one particularly exciting splash. Great art, but the old fossil collector that still resides in me is amazed by how ahead of his time the artist was. At the time this art was done, and for a number of decades that followed, dinosaurs such as this one were depicted with the trunk in a vertical position and the tail heavily dragging on the ground. A horizontal trunk and a tail that remains above ground are now considered the correct depiction.

Great start to a story - that's a real page turner. I love the depiction of the skyscrapers, looming over the figures.
