Description
HR Giger Victory V (Satan) 1984-P-002

This fine art print was originally issued in 1984, to promote the first edition of the Necronomicon II book; the first people ordering the new book could win such a print.

Probably only around 50 – 100 of them were issued, all signed, and given to the winners.

In the HR Giger book Arh+, first edition large size in 1991, new edition smaller size in 2001, on page 91, under the title “A true occult story” Giger tells how he was excited about this print, printed in 5 colors, instead of the usually only 4 colors used for such prints. (In the article HR Giger mentions a magazine called “”Team”: in this magazine was announced the new HR Giger book, and to promote the magazine and the new Necronomicon II book, people could win such a print.)

Some years later, there was made a re-issued of this print as poster, around the same size, but only in 4 colors, on thin paper, and usually not signed, and sold as simple poster. On the poster it says “printed in Spain”, to distinguish the poster from the previous print.

(Addendum : in the mid 80's, HR Gigers distributor in the USA was Catalan Communication; they sold the German version of the Necronomicon II book, but added a leaflet with the translated texts. So the same way this print was used in Switzerland to promote Necro II, Catalan Communicaation issued is normal offset poster; this was before the Necro II book was translated into English and edited by Morpheus)

1984-P-002 Victory V (Satan), 1984, 62,5×89,5 cm, 5-Farb-Offsetdruck.

This print was never available for sale, you could only win it; this one here comes from the private archive of the Swiss editor of the first edition of the Necronomicon II book.

He got it in 1984 from HR Giger in person.

The print is not numbered, only signed.

The print was never framed.
