Description

This is an incentive cover variant of X-Men (2021) #2 for Frankie’s Comics in North Carolina.

The image is an homage to Barry Windsor-Smith’s cover of Marvel Comics Presents issue 72, which first introduced the Weapon X program part of Logan’s backstory... which, many years later, eventually also leads to the creation of Laura Kinney.

I was only aware of this cover (and Artist, to be honest) due to Ken Lashley being interviewed in CAF Update #64 on YouTube. He was on the show to promote his work being on display at Metropolis Gallery in NYC. I had my eye on the piece as soon as they showed it, but the interview itself also played a big part.

A great cover for a great series, featuring one of my all-time favourite characters, executed by a fellow Canadian (who also seems to be a really nice guy), homaging another great cover and artist (whom I'd love to own Art from)... it all made it a no-brainer for me.
