Cranboyz 2021: Turtles, Bats, Apes, and Snakes

Even though it was commissioned in 2020 and received in early 2022, this piece is definitely one to fit the theme. Ian Nichols is a fantastic TMNT artist, and when I requested a commission to showcase the friendship between Casey Jones and Raphael, he came up with this wonderful image of the two buddies taking a break from patrolling the city to eat some pizza! Carl was a big fan of Casey Jones, so this turned out to be one fortuitous request that I am happy to add to my collection. This one's for you, Carl!

The gritty style put on it definitely harkens back to the Raphael one-shot. Nichols' composition for a big action styled dynamic is a great call back as well in that issue of their first encounter before they were friends.
