Description

There was something so special about Ostrander's run on Suicide Squad. At the time, we'd seen little like it. Sure, it was kind of an heir to Secret Society of Supervillains, Mission Impossible, and the original Suicide Squad. But it was completely it's own book with probably my favorite character introduced in the 80s, Amanda Waller.

This trip to Apokolips stands as a testament to what Ostrander was able to do with B and C list characters (including some of my all time favorites). The exchange on this page between Vixen and Shade is as emblematic as that as anything else in the series.

Obviously, this is a quiet page. But John loaded so much acting into it that it is hardly boring.

And, this page completes my efforts to get a page from McDonnell, Isherwood, and Snyder. There were a handful of other artists that worked on the series, but these three were the ones that created and recreated the series multiple times.

Great storytelling. The look on Shade's face speaks volumes. The Lashina/Waller interaction is perfect. I always love seeing Nightshade.
