One of the 6 advertising paintings, featuring Mikey at the top of the chain…

The Goonies (1985) is one of my absolute favorite movies from the 1980‘s and I still remember seeing it as a kid for the very first time. So obviously Drew Struzan‘s amazing movie poster artwork is among the top of my (dream-)wishlist. As the final key movie poster artwork is probably unattainable, I’m extremely happy to have gotten the original newspaper advertisement artwork for the original movie release…
The story goes that executive producer/writer Stephen Spielberg loved Drew's design so much, he asked Drew to paint each Goonie on top of the chain so there could be a different newspaper ad for all seven days leading up to the movie‘s release…so Drew painted 6 new designs along with an additional background (all on 76cm x 56cm artboard) all of which I was lucky enough to add to my collection…
