Description

An amazing gift from a good friend; an exquisite riff on a personal favorite: Frank Quitely’s ‘New X-Men’ #127 cover.

An inspired use of colored paper and an impressively subtle touch on the white highlights here allow Xorn’s steampunk design to really cook! I love the smoke rising from all vents, and the starlight-white imaginings manifesting themselves as the thought of a hamburger…. Buster packs quite the punch into an 8.5 x 5.5 inch space!
Really great execution all over this thing.

My introduction to a new artist could not have been sweeter. Sincere thanks don’t begin to cover your amazing generosity, Dr. F - thank you again.

I'm not familiar with Xorn or the New X-Men #127 cover, so of course I had to look it up for context! I've always loved art drawn on colored/textured paper and feel that the comic art commissions segment of our hobby would take a big step forward if more artists experimented with that type of paper, as it definitely adds a nice extra element to the finished piece. This is a really neat send off to that Quitely cover and really puts the F in FUN!

As I walk along, I hunger
At what has Xorn in awe of
Awe of what was so strong

And as I still walk on
I think of beef cooked well done
Sandwiched in sesame seed buns

I'd add ketchup onion rings
Too much bacon and I would refrain
A wishin' you a slice of cheese
Lettuce, light mayo please

Blimpie's Burger Bot is alive! Alive! Muahahaha. Heh, what a fun concept. I like Quitely's Xorn design, too, and this is a great parody take. And free? You have a good friend. :) Congrats!
