Description
Right off the cuff, let me tell you that I've never read a single solitary issue of Airboy in my whole life! I don't know what the series is about and can barely tell who the protagonist is, yet I CAN say that when I saw this cover, I instantly was drawn to it! I really dig the character design of Airboy and seeing him narrowly escaping getting mowed down by a helicopter is top notch action in my book! I should also point out that I'm not familiar with Eclipse Comics, so if any fans of the series/company want to weigh in more on its history, feel free!

Sweet! I loved Stan Woch's art during the 80's, especially on Airboy. You ended up getting yourself a really fantastic cover example here with this one!

Great cover from an enjoyable series that I read as back issues in the late 1990s.  Chuck Dixon was the writer for the entire run.  Eclipse had a number of decent series in the day, from the legendary Miracleman to other books worth checking out like Mr. Monster, Crossfire, Scout and Beanworld.

beautiful piece. how Airboy was even able to squeeze words out of his lungs. while being shot at by a helicoptor is beyond me. as this is truly a terrifying image and an amazing pick up. congrats

From what I can see here, Young Jan-Michael Vincent is being betrayed by Ernest Borgnine inside a high tech military helicopter codenamed: Airwolf.  It aired on the Eclipse Channel for 4 seasons with intrigue and spy stuff.

Otherwise, it was an 80's indie title updating a golden age character.  The revival by Chuck Dixon and Tim Truman  was a great success.  A flood destroyed Eclipse's offices and back issue stock that they were selling and they eventually went out of business in 1994.  Yadda yadda Yadda, Todd McFarlane bought out Eclipse.  You may see Spawn fight Airboy one day.

I think Kubert is flying the attack chopper. ;) Great cover! I dig the angle Woch used, and the old style war comic cover.  I was not as into Airboy, either, but this cover would grab me, too. It's great. Congrats!
