Description
Like many kids, I grew up knowing this character as “Hammerhead” based on the Kenner action figure packaging in the early 80’s. I loved the Cantina scene in A New Hope and Jabba’s Palace in Return of the Jedi, because they felt so seedy and full of unique characters. Glad to see more Ithorians pop up in Star Wars, from Rebels to Bad Batch and Book of Boba Fett. Love having this rendition of the first one from Joseph Cooper!

The more you see them on screen, the more fascinating they become to fans.  Is it practical or CG?  Cooper's work around the eyes is incredibly detailed to give him a soul!

Exactly. It's the variety of characters and atmospheres, and honestly the dedication to practical effects and if not fully practical, a mix of CG and practical, that has given Star Wars such a long lifespan. That universe is at its best when it's a little weird and dirty and feels lived in, because that's relatable. Can't wait to sign up for another one of these sketches since this one turned out so well!

I also remember the old Hammerhead action figure, particularly since it was one of the more unique figures given the design of the character.  Really nice depiction here!

I absolutely love Ithorians! I played lots and lots of SWTOR, and my favorite companion was the Ithorian padawan. The piece here is terrific. Have you read "From a Certain Point of View?" It's a bit tedious to read in one go, but the Cantina stories are compelling.
