According to Josh: "The cover was created almost entirely with wax pastel (sometimes called “artists’ crayon”) on 100% cotton illustration board. After scanning the raw art for print (I made the digital file much too dark, by the way—the original is more atmospheric and subtle; you can really feel the fog!), I mounted the art to a rigid MDF board and coated it with resin to seal the wax pastel. I then refined the resin with my own process to eliminate the high-gloss finish and to create a matte/satin sheen that I was thrilled to discover further enhanced the misty forest atmosphere of the art. The art has a very subtle three-dimensional depth to it that I can not come close to reproducing with photographs. It really needs to be seen in person to appreciate. Another benefit of the resin is the art can be hung without glass!"
