Mr. Majestic #1 pg 10

Joe Casey, Brian Holguin and Ed McGuinness kicked off this title with a phenomenal story of Majestic rearranging our solar system to fool a galaxy devouring entity. I picked up the book because I’d fallen for Ed’s art on Deadpool, but the six issues these gentlemen worked on together are still favorites of mine to this day. Probably even more than McGuinness’ work with Joe Kelly on Deadpool.

Taking on this monumental task was largely a solo effort for Majestic over decades, and the writers did a great job of emphasizing that loneliness throughout the issue. You can really feel the weight of his solitude on this page, as well as Majestic’s determination to see the job through. Dynamite early work from Ed, who’s one of my all time faves, along with lush inking from Jason Martin.
