Description

From Warren Ellis controversial 1998 mature-only Satana series, which Marvel decided not to publish.

This was to serve as the title splash page for the 2nd issue.

Pencils and inks by Ariel Olivetti.

While this was not published at the time, in 2018 the art to this issue (as well as issues 1 and 3) was included in the Warren Ellis Hellstorm Omnibus edition, so 20 years later, published in a way. This Omnibus collection was released to coincide with the Hulu Hellstorm TV series, which I was canceled pretty quickly after the first season.

Wow. The suggestive nature of this MARVEL piece makes it a treasure.

Probably part of the reason it was nixed by Marvel, though there were plenty of other dark themes in that series.
