DescriptionDazzling Healing, Glorious Forgiving!I was recently inspired after watching the best 5 X-Men artists on the CAF Comic Art Live channel and wanted to post one of my X-Men Silvestri pages. I’ve posted some of my Silvestri Wolverine pages but after viewing that really great artist debate, I needed to post one of my Silvestri era X pages. In all it’s glitz and glamour, but with lots value to me, is a page from Marc Silvestri’s run on Uncanny X-Men. Fot me, it’s one of my favorite X-eras. It’s an odd cast of characters doing weird stories and adventures but I really enjoyed Claremont’s stories and especially loved Silvestri’s art. It captures a distinct time and place for the very spread out X-Men. This is the end page from Uncanny X-Men #260 the STAR 90 storyline featuring Dazzler getting kidnapped, bound and gagged by her former disgruntled Agent/Manager/Producer. It’s a really weird, slightly funny and slightly horrific issue with the themes it plays with. But was a stand out issue for the Dazzler character that was introduced a decade earlier in X-Men #130. We get to see her using her ability to hypnotize and fill her captor with good feelings, which just barely saves her before his hate filled feelings kill her. The page captures the raw emotion and horrifying situation, without any words one can tell the situation with Silvestri and Green’s Art. Dazzler is glorious and beautiful, even with a bag over her head. She comes to some sort of realization that she can be a healer through her gifts, that it isn’t just light and destruction but can be beauty and tranquility. The subject matter is really rough if you think too much on it, but pretty awesome to have such stories available to me as a young man. The Uncanny X books of this era were made for you g adults and very much made for the older collectors, that’s something I continually love as I revisit these stories and especially dive back into the art. With this being said, Silvestri is an easy pick for me as one of my top 5 favorite X artists. Social/Sharing |

Silverstri was truly on one back then. Never got to read these issues but loved his mastery with the pencil no less. Congrats!

I remember the visuals of this page, but don't remember the story at all. However, you sure make it sound like something that would be right up my alley. I loved Star 80 ever since it came out when I was a kid (Ah, the good ol' days when an 11 year old could watch something probably rated 18+ on tv with their parents), so if this story is similar to that, I may just have to give it a re-read!

Really like Dan's interpretation of Marc's pencils here. Especially on the five close-up panels. What was really cool is that when I clicked to leave this comment, and the thumbnail came up next to the comment box, seeing it from a distance was even more powerful. Very dramatic end page from an acclaimed art run. Congrats buddy!

It looks like the guy got years of cable news pulled out of him and he could think for himself now. Very powerful imagery by Silvestri and Green.

Silvestri was great but like I said, they didn't give him the best toys to play with. Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, and some interns. I love dazzler but she's more popular from the arcade game than the comics. Glad we inspired you to post a page. Jason will drool over this.

I too am very fond of that era's X-Men. Great, thought provoking stories, somewhat different from standard super hero fare. Great example

Love seeing that show bring out these hidden gems! Silvestri is an all-timer and it's aweosme you dusted this off for the rest of us to enjoy as well!

Fabulous page! I, too, loved Silvestri's run on Uncanny X-Men. He had a style that suited the team well. And I loved Dan Green's inks over Silvestri's pencils. They made an amazing team!
