Black Cat by Amanda Conner

At the top of my "Most Wanted" list for FACTS this weekend was the inimitable Amanda Conner. I did my homework and knew upfront that it's... not a guarantee to get a sketch from her. Usually, both Amanda & her husband Jimmy Palmiotti get swamped at conventions & sketches bog down the lines.

At FACTS, however, they decided to draw AND do it at a very low price. I've never seen her do the quick sketches of this quality (and quantity as she drew for hours and hours). At the table, there were also two higher-end commissions for sale by Amanda.

Regarding my meeting with the lovely couple: my girlfriend & I talked to them for 15 minutes or so, about plenty of things. About her time as Bill Sienkiewicz's assistant and model; about life in Florida and vacation at Epcot (and being trashed at the bar), their trip to Belgium in the next few weeks, and so much more. They could not have been nicer & it could not have gone better.

PS. The scan did NOT do this one enough justice. The face itself is actually done in a pinkish, flesh-coloured marker which is very subtle yet bring about a great effect in real life. The hair is done in a silver marker.
