Description

So after purchasing Rick Hoberg's variant prelim cover for All Star Squadron 38 it sat in my Itoya for a number of years.

Jerry Ordway did the inks on the published version but I thought Rick Hoberg might like to take a crack at the cover that for whatever reason was not used.

I reached out to Rick who did my awesome four page All Star Squadron/Justice Battalion commission and asked if he would like to take a brush to it.

Rick said yes and so the original prelim with Johnny Quick as one of the onlooking heads finally saw some some beautiful ink work.

Rick added the Robotman head that was not in his original prelim and if you notice the villain's hand undergoes its third revision. Notice the placement in the prelim, the published version and Rick's commission take.

Wow - genuinely masterful work by Rick. An absolutely superb reworking of an already-fantastic cover. Colour me jealous!

I guess this must be the cover which was on the news-stands on Earth 2...
