Romano Scarpa - Mickey Mouse - 1955 - Doppio Segreto di Macchia Nera - p27

Fantastic page (page 7 of the 2nd part) by the great Italian Disney master Romano Scarpa, for his classic „Topolino e il doppio segreto di Macchia Nera“ („The Phantom Blot’s Double Mystery“). This is one of the most famous stories by the great Scarpa and only very few pages are thought to have survived. It is also some of the earliest surviving Scarpa artwork and one of the few stories that were also inked by him. I remember this page very vividly from reading the story as a kid, thanks to the wonderfully surreal gag of Goofy filling the room with wood chips while Mickey & Chief O’Hara take a short nap…and none of them even seem to think this remotely peculiar…
First published in 1955 in the Italian Topolino 116-119, the story has been printed over 40 times in at least 13 countries, in Germany it first appeared in the Lustige Taschenbuch No. 62 (1979)…
