Description
I've always been a fan of Ken Kelly's cover paintings for Jim Warren's magazines! When the opportunity came along to add this to the collection, I didn't hesitate. This cover for Creepy #73 is a themed science fiction painting as this issue featured all science fiction stories, in other words perfect for my collection. Published by Warren Publishing Company in August 1975. Oil on 20" X 24" illustration board. Additionally used as the cover of the third issue of Warren Presents: Star Quest Comix in 1978.

The color palette and textures on the human figure are very similar to those of Boris. Very cool Science Fiction Creepy cover!

Wow, do I remember this!  One of Kelly's best, IMO

Great deep orange and black paints for a striking contrast.  A black cover always looked great on the stands.  Kelly sci-fi was state of the art in the mid 70's space age!

I always felt like this was a subtle nod to Frank's Famous Funnies #214. Such a great piece. Congrats Glynn!

Superb!  As a Ken Kelly fan I think this is one of his very best science fiction paintings.

Ditto to the above comments.  The only comics I read as a youth were horror and Creepy was the premier one that always kept me baffled at the quality of the art.  This is an iconic piece and most definitely one of Kelly's best overall works.  Such an incredible subject matter in this, as well!

Loved this one since the Star Quest cover (which apparently the makers of thought to diminish this amazing art in favor of their giant title STAR QUEST), congrats!!

GREAT cover! According to Ken, a similar sci-fi cover (Creepy 62) that he did was the cover that landed him the Kiss Destroyer artwork deal. I personally like your cover better. Robots and such is where Ken really shines...RIP....
