Description

In the issues following the fight with Khan, Boon, Po Po, and Princess Zheng had to fight an Emperor Dragon. Jeff completely unleashed himself in these issue. At first, he drew a giant dragon. Then, when Boon sliced it open, dozens of smaller dragons poured out.

This page is a couple of pages into the fight with the horde of dragons. Not only did Jeff and inker, Tom Ryder, do an incredible job filling each panel with loads of detail, but series colorist Chris Garcia killed the color work and distinguished between each dragon in dramatic fashion (see second photo for an example).

These issues were a real high point of the series, and the team was firing on all cylinders.

The dragon scales on this brings an organic flow of movement to the page and story.

Very nice page. Not only did this book have nice coloring, but that was one of the amazing things about CrossGen. They had amazing coloring across their entire line of books!

This is the only (interesting) Crossgen series which I haven't fully read (past its first arc due to the need to trim down some monthlies back when) but I clearly missed out based on this fantastic page.
