Description
Phil Hale has done quite a few variations of his "skull" motif and I've been eyeing them all. Some are looser than others and, honestly, all of them didn't appeal to me, even if it was a PHIL HALE painting!

So, I knew if I was able get a painting it would have to be the right one for me and a "one and done".

This one came up on CAF (as they all do) and was available. A quick and easy trade (my first) was made.
I like the tightness of the skull design and the partial RED APE stencil. The previous owner says the painting is titled "MARTIN'S HEAD", which is as good a name as any for a HALE painting.
The package spent about 8 LONG weeks in the postal system, but it was very well packed and arrived safely.

I'm happy to have my one HALE skull and my second PHIL HALE painting.

Many years ago another collector of Hale's work posted about selling off about 90% of his b/w pieces, emptying the portfolios and only keeping art he had on the walls and displayed. I get it.

The painting is masterfully done and any collector lucky enough to own it should hang it on the wall.

Love Hale's skulls!   Great example!  It seems to be smiling evern more than your average skull, and I love the mysterious hand drawn text as well

Congrats that is one of the nice heads phill has done. I like it when his skulls have teeth.
