DescriptionErnest Chiriacka, cover for Dime Western pulp magazine, July 1942. This oil on canvas is the very first piece of pulp art that came into my possession. Rather, it arrived in tatters, with holes, and sagging canvas after years of maltreatment. A year in restoration was needed to reassemble the pieces and make it look presentable again.Mr. Chiriacka used himself as a model for many of his illustrations and covers. Social/Sharing |

Water for $2 a head in the mid to late 1800's?!? That may as well have been a million bucks! I'm a bigger fan of Chiriacka's far more developed work from the 1950's and 60's paperbacks, but it' still such a gas to see this early work of his. Fun stuff and glad you restored it!
