Lady Mandarin Psylocke - Jack Foster art

Lady Mandarin Psylocke is a very short and X-tremely unique time in the X-Men history.

Originally designed by Jim Lee, this Psylocke era really defined the character for 30 years, when she turned from a British model to an Asian assassin (Uncanny X-Men #256, #257, #258). She was only Lady Mandarin for a few issues but the image and mark it left is absolutely iconic.

Jack Foster beautifully brings her to life in his iteration of this iconic era for Psylocke. This original art is the near final painted piece that he made some amazing final prints from (please see additional images for comparison).

I am fortunate to know Jack personally and he surprised me with this original art as a recent gift. It’s strong, statuesque presence really features Lady Mandarin’s uncaring, lethal identity well. She’s stoic, yet sensual; deadly mixed with grace in her dynamic pose. The lighting, color and gorgeous precise water color painted artistry that Jack can do is an absolute talent that pays homage to Jim Lee’s mastery when he created her.
