Description
Wow! Could you ask for more characters on a cover? Thor, Iron Man, Sub-Mariner, Nick Fury (twice, as both Sgt. Fury and the eyepatch-wearing Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Adolf Hitler, the Red Skull, trusted partners Bucky Barnes and the Falcon, even a second image of Cap, riding his WWII-era motorcycle, with Bucky on board! And we're not done: the Black Panther, Spitfire, the Human Torch, a crying woman we will guess is Peggy Carter, and to the surprise of anyone who had the comic (since he was covered by a text box), the Vision. The two missing text boxes said "But NOW -- the grim question that TORMENTS the Star-Spangled Avenger: WHO IS STEVE ROGERS?" This issue, the first after Jack Kirby left the book, was a turning point for the series as Roy Thomas endeavored to clean up some inconsistencies in Captain America's origin and set the stage for new storylines.
