I agree completely with your comment regarding the solid black mass, Jason. The page would be far weaker without it. Thankfully, a master illustrator like Kaluta is always aware of that. I just love the figure in the bottom panel, and the page offers the usual whispy linework Kaluta is famous for. Kudos!

I'm not as familiar with Kaluta as others, but I know he's got some sublime line work, and this is no exception.  Serene and emotive, and so unique in how the story is told.  Very nice, indeed.  Congrats, Jason!

The Kaluta Madame Xanadu that were dropping on Heritage consistently were real gems. I was happy to pick up one but this one is a real beauty that reflects his history with the character and her early development. It's clear that Kaluta still loves drawing her and I'm so impressed with the ways he leads the reader through the page toward that stunning final third of the page. 

Yeah wow, that is some gorgeous line work.  That top image is particularly lovely and bucolic, and I like how it bleeds seamlessly into the three images below it.

What have we here, a Kaluta-Wagner genius collab!  I think Kaluta is as close as it gets to Pieta-esque pathos and forlorn majesty... not to mention storytelling that takes us back to childhood rapture, as showcased in this art.  Big congrats on this wonder of a piece, bud!

LOVELY PAGE ! GRACEFUL ....

Wow! Wow! Wow! What a stunning page from Michael Kaluta! I just love the artistry of this page. It's part Art Nouveau, part Barry Windsor-Smith, but all Michael Kaluta! Love that top panel with the boy running after the woman in a rural setting. Then for some reason the woman pulls a deck of tarot cards out of her purse, the boy shuffles them and woman begins to lay them out and finally, the boy (?) falls asleep looking at the cards in front of him. The whole thing is so lyrical, so fairy story like, it's almost a dream. But it's beautifully drawn with an elegance you don't see much in comics any more. Phenomenal pick-up, congratulations!

Agreed, the use of the solid black region makes the lighting here such a stron feature of the page, contrasting so well with the daylight in the bucolic scene in the top tier. The asymmetrical aspects just seem to aid the flow of the story. Lovely work.
