Description
Convention drawing in 1982.

At the NY comic convention, Michael golden was appearing after years of not being at any convention. He was doing pencils and Marionette was very popular. He was kicking them out and if you look he used almost the same pose.

I approached him for a pencil and asked him if he would mind if I supplied better paper then a sketchbook. He had no issue and he noticed I walked behind the artist table and got a sheet from the other DC artist I was up with.

Karen handed Larry Mahlstedt (legion inker with Giffen) the paper and he wandered over and said when Michael was done, send it over and he was inking it.

Larry Did the inking and then Karen Raines who colored Spider Woman - eye of the needle, did the color work in prismacolor pencils.

It stands out from most con drawings because it was a more developed pencil to build off.

Nice vintage convention sketch, and I appreciate including the story as well.

That's indeed a particularly nice vintage Golden con sketch.

Yes it was . Off to HA.

I will miss it not because of the art, because 2 friends did the artwork, the inker and colorist. It was a purchase because it was the first time Golden was at a show, I wanted art and that was the character I picked.

The PrismaColor pencils never fade so it's still as vibrant.

The ARt sat in a drawer and was never framed or presented, in a airmail envelope for 40 years. I did not want it to vanish because at some point it would get tossed out by someone not knowing what it was, and I wanted someone who valued it to assure it's continued existance.

I hope it found a good home.
