Nice art and nicer story Frédéric!
Beautiful story, Fred.
An eloquent and fitting tribute🙏🏼
A commanding image.
Nice remembrance story and tribute.
Great tribute to an amazing creator.
Wow! Now THIS is one of the best free "sketches" that may ever have been given to a fan. It's essentially "painted" completely in wash tones and I'll be damned if it doesn't exhibit one of the most natural, fluid and dynamic figure poses done as a "free sketch". Just fantastic!
As for Black Panther: Black , yes, I think that may have gone down about as well as the proposed series launches of...
Black Goliath: Black
Black Mariah: Black
Black Racer: Black
Black Manta: Black
and
Black Lightning: Black
Beauty!
Great wash painting as this is probably how the art would have looked if he ever drew Black Panther for publication. The added loose framing device is cool for an added background that pops the dynamic pose further towards the audience. The requirement to buy books to meet the artist is basically an admisssion ticket to have some crowd control. Tim Sale's legend will be well remembered through art and his personal interactions.
Thanks for the story and for sharing.
Beautiful art and a beautiful story. Hard to believe this was what qualified as a free sketch back in the day. It's on par with the timed convention sketches Tim became known for.
That is a lot of effort on a free piece for a fan. He seems to have a lot of those stories, and was clearly a great guy. RIP, Mr Sale.
An excellent piece, but just as important was your experience getting it. It's always wonderful to hear when the great artists are also nice people.
He will be missed. Beautiful piece
A beautiful write-up, Fred, to accompany this fantastic piece. The occasion is heartbreaking; his loss cuts so deeply for all of us because of the level of his talents and how much his work meant to us all. I'm really glad you had such a great time with Tim when you saw him, and love what you shared about it with us. The fact that this was the level of work he would gift to all the fans in attendance is testament to his caliber as a creator and character in and of himself. Great piece, Fred, thanks again for sharing, and Rest In Peace, Tim Sale.
Such a strong, organic quality to Sale's rendition of BP here. I've though about Black Panther: Black before myself :) Would've loved to see it. Congrats on the piece. RIP Tim Sale.
Good story about a left us too soon fantastic artist
