Description
This is what you might call a squirrel. A piece of art that appears out of nowhere that is not on any of your collecting lists or even in the back of your mind.. but when you see it... It just really gets your attention.

Aliens is one of those comics that I really loved artistically back in the day. Starting with the works of Mark Nelson, Dennis Beauvais, Dave Dorman and of course John Bolton.

Considering how unplanned this acquisition was.. it's amazing that I picked up 2 covers from this run (deciding is so hard). Please check out the other cover and leave a comment or two.

As always.. thanks for checking out my gallery

PS..if you want one like this.. talk to Marc Mokken at http://artofcomics.net/.

Always loved these covers. In fact, always loved Bolton's art without exceptions :) Congrats on these stellar additions!

This is Bolton's best period, IMO. Beautiful use of color to accentuate a theme. I definitely see why you picked it up.

Fantastic cover by John Bolton! Love the contrast between the alien in the background and the woman in the foreground who is either unaware or unconcerned. Cool pick-up!

I agree with Bill.  The contrast between the  woman in the foreground and the alien in the background is fantastic.  It almost seems like the alien could be an ancient drawing on a cave wall behind her, with stalactites coming down from the ceiling.  Would love to see this painting and your other one hanging side by side on your wall.  John Bolton totally rocks!

A spear against an Alien? Even Wonder Woman would have trouble with that disadvantage. I predict a fatal melting or biting. Whats that she said? Someone called Duke said she was fighting a squirrel? Wheres he gone? Fleed fled. Come back, you coward. Fight the exoskeledtonic, acid spitting, sharp toothed and clawed 'Squirrel' yourself. What do you mean equality means the equal right to die in a gruesome manner?

The painted covers for Dark Horse licensed properties brought class to them far beyond what they had at the big two.  Bolton elevated these to the same level of what they were doing for Star Wars with covers worthy of books and paperbacks.

I was never into Dark Horse's "Aliens" or "Predator" comics, but I remember picking up the issues of this series off the stands just to admire Bolton's covers.  Amazing work.

THis is an amazing piece! I've never heard the term squirrel art but I can appreciate the idea. This hits me the same way! A piece that isn't on your radar and you see it and think "wow - I NEED that!"

We all want this nut!

And to think how pleased with myself I was when I managed to buy, from John, just the prelim to this piece...I cannot begin to describe how envious I am of you owning this: absolute masterpiece! Many congratulations!!
