Description
As I build out my X-Men collection, I wanted to add a vintage X-Men piece. Top of my list was old school Prof X, Jean Gray and Cyclops.

This page checked those boxes with a nice addition of some great Angel action as a bonus.

In this story, ProfX discovers Frankenstein is a. real and b. a mutant. They go to get him and discover that he's an android, but he escapes on ground leaving a trail of destruction.

Note: they never call him Angel here, I think this is before he got his superhero name?

Panel 1 - we see the aftermath of the fight with Frank (note the little angel)
Panel 2 - close up on angel - he's trying to find where Frank went
Panel 3 - Angel sees more debris, getting warmer
Panel 4 - Cyclops and Marvel Girl are in a helicopter (Pre X-jet/blackbird!) with ProfX - he gets a message from 'Warren'
Panel 5 - and they are off!
Panel 6 - Angel quickly leads them to the boat and there's some fun team dialog to boot.

Enjoy!

Man I loved that Frankenstein story. I started picking up Uncanny regularly off the spinner racks with issue 193. When I started backfilling the run, issue 40 was my first pre- issue 94 book that I picked up. All for the Franky cover.

Thanks Jeff, I did same, think I read a treasury edition or some to tpb that collected them.

I'm alone, yeah, you don't know the mutant wings of flight
Brings the fears, Heck is drawing that Frankenstien for you
Your X-Men love
Let's break your balls, it's genius
Don't make it tough
You've put away McSpider
Enough's enough
I've Tuska'ed and I've seen inked right

X-Men, got the Angel
Come and save art tonight
You're the Angel
Come and post art all night

Great addition, Scot. Don Heck is so emblematic of the Silver Age. I really like seeing your thought process in the selection.

Prime Prof X page! I think if I made a request I'd ask to have him "touching his head doing some sort of mind projection thing".

Nice bonus Angel in flight as well.

Superb vintage X-men page! Solid storytelling with key characters: who could ask for more?
