Description
I am not really sure with anything about this piece. When purchased it originally said Quasar Original Character Design- 1978 signed Paul Bonnano. However, I know that the accredited creation of Quasar was for Don Glut, Roy Thomas, and John Buscema. Marvel Boy was introduced in 1978 and later Quasar in 1979. This artwork says Quasar 1978 (Dated 8-20-1978. Around the same date for Defenders #62, which would have been the 3rd Marvel Boy comic), with a totally different design and am wondering if this Quasar has any relation to Marvel Quasar, or was it related to anything else. Also of interest is the fact that it says Copyright on the Pin-Up, so I am wondering if it was published in a fanzine or something else. Also of interest is the fact that the character name Quasar was used in the not-so-distant future as a Marvel character. If anyone knows any further information about this piece, I would love to know more. I am a fan of Quasar, fan of cosmic art, a fan of a treasure hunt, and a fan of this art piece no matter what it turns out to be. Just figured it would be a lot of fun to research more for the price. It even came with a bonus of pencils on the back, so that's fun as well.

My guess is that it's just a character design by a fan artist and has nothing to do with Marvel's Quasar, which I believe is just an interesting coincidence. Either way, a fun piece!

Bonnano does have comics credits, so he was either designing it for Marvel or for some other company.

Oh really? That's interesting. The last name sounded very vaguely familiar, but just didn't ring a bell on anything specific. Who knows? It's an interesting mystery, at any rate!
