I don�t usually color guide� but when I do it is for X-men art I can�t afford the original to lol. The second I saw this while talking to Bill at BURKEY�s house I new I wanted it� yes it is just a color guide but it is the cover to Uncanny X-Men 204! Long before digital color , colorists hand colored these and Glynis Oliver was one of the best in the business. The cover itself is so memorable even if the story was one of few Claremont duds. June Brigman and Terry Austin did a wonderful job creating what looks like the poster to a 80s action/romance movie featuring the fuzzy elf himself Nightcrawler ! This is probably as close as I will get to owning an 80s X-men cover so I am damn happy to have it!

In a dark closet doorway
X-Men's all I cared
Warm smell of Romitas
Rising up through the stairs
Up ahead in the distance
I saw the Crawling Night
My head grew heavy and my face grew grin
I had to stop for the sight

There it stood in colorway
I heard the Austin bell
And I was thinking to myself
This could be Brigman or this could be Hell
Then Bill brought out a paddle
Leather mask all the way
There were lashes down the corridor
I thought I heard him say

Welcome to the Hotel John Romita
Such a Burkey place (such a Christmas place)
Such a Spidey face
Plenty of guides at the Hotel John Romita
Glynis Oliver (any time of year)

That's a fun color guide piece from early UXC. Nice find!

I loved this cover when this issue first came out, in large part due to the wonderfully bright colors. I'm not a big color guide guy either, but I can see why you made an exception here.
