DescriptionThe Earth X mini series was a massive undertaking in the late 90s.. the Brain Child of Alex Ross with covers by him and written by Jim Krueger it was a fun future take on a bleak outcome after the age of Marvels heroes. For me it was also the first taste of JP Leon’s artwork - which was a stark contrast to what we were used to in the image inducing 90s .. the only thing I can compare it to was when Sienkiewicz took over the New Mutants 15 years earlier and turned the whole comic art world upside down. I’m not comparing the artists at all just the sudden change in vibe from what was the norm at the time . I was a fan of art from the start. So when I started collecting OA I was looking for a piece from it. Unfortunately the way to early passing of JP made people hang onto there pieces even tighter… until recently , a friend decided to let this dps go and I could not even try to resist picking it up! The pages feature a condensed 2 page origin of Namor the Sub Mariner . Already a character I am a fan of .. but he is also one of the most tragic stories in Earth X so his part stands out so much to me even after all the years. The art itself .. well you can see the work Leon and Rienhold but into it for yourself.. just stunning!Social/Sharing |

Outstanding artwork! This entire series was a love letter to Marvel that nobody other than JPL could have pulled off.

Namor waited 'til he swam with a school
He lost his memory, fell in with Doom
He met a girl out there with the name of Sue
Two pages are wide open
They moved JPL pages that you could afford
He found Invaders, he rules the ocean floor
She's Lady Dorma and she pulled him ashore
John Paul had no limit
In two, it spreads wide open
Under the seas of blue
Out in the great sea, mutant
An artist that left too soon

Great storytelling end to end, and love that shot of Namor. So much ink adds to the presence of the character in the over image. Big congrats, man!
