Description

In the OG SW marvel run, there were 2 Annuals and this page is from the first one. I've been at this a while and never, ever seen a page so jumped at the opp to grab this one.

In the first panel, Leia with her trademark buns is wandering the catacombs looking for Han. Luke is distracting the stormtroopers to buy her time. Look at that icky devil creature in chains - pretty edgy for Marvel.

Panel 2 - Leia is deep in thought as she hears a muffled cry.

Panel 3 - Ok, wow, what have we here?! This Majetrix chick has Chewy in chains and han tied up to a Psycho-probe. Leia yells "Freeze" and Majetrix says: "Who dares!"

Panel 4 - I Dare, Leia Organa! Release Han now!

So cool that Leia is already taking charge and rescuing Han and Chewie in '79 before ESB, which solidified her and Ripley as bearers of new feminist ideals in the sci-fi genre.

Nice! Voz and Leialoha made a great pairing for this annual (and there were actually three by the way). Leia is definitely large and in charge in that bottom panel!

For those that didn't spot it, this is the page with the "Hidden Minnie." Leialoha felt like the shadow that Leia cast in that last panel looked so much like a mouse, that he added whiskers to it... a little joke that made it past the editors!
