Murphy Anderson-Hawkman #10-p.8 1965

Large art DC is rare enough as it is and this Murphy Anderson is a great example of the quality that he put into the Hawkman series.  The inks he put in were that of a fine illustrator's touch.  You can feel the soft texture in the feathers and hair of the characters to inform us of their personality or find the cool straight lines that construct the city and interiors.

I agree that this page has all the telltale signs of Murphy Anderson's art during this period. However, this page also shows off one of the hallmarks of polymath writer Gardner Fox's Silver Age storytelling formula. His DC heroes often faced perplexing, seemingly unsolvable problems that required knowing some esoteric real-world historical, scientific, and/or mythological reference to  solve. It sure looks like Hawkman and Hawkgirl are about to drop some knowledge on the bad guy on the next page. Cheers!
