Description

This is a fun item. Billy DeBeck made a check out for twenty cents to Rose Pelswick, a well-known movie critic for the New York Journal-American. Maybe they knew each other because of the Hearst connection. DeBeck adorned the check with a small color drawing of Barney Google, with Barney stating, "If she cashes this, I'm sunk". From 1931. I really dig artifacts like this.

So great that 20 cent checks actaully meant something in their time. He added color to the sketch which makes it even better.
