Description

This is the original artwork for the marvel comics Excalibur issue 18.

This was a extremely lucky find for me. A very well-known art dealer at Chicago Comic-Con in the late 2000s had this for sale at their booth. I forgot if I asked how much the cover was or if I was confirming the price. At the mention that it was a cover, the dealer was taken back and quickly stated that if I did not purchase this at the price that it is written at, $225, still in the top left corner, it would be raised considerably. Purchased it and the man is a man of his word.

The problem for the dealer was the fact that the background is repeating race cars that was done in a later process by computer or by layover. Without that backdrop and the art style you would never suspect it was an actual cover unless you collected Excalibur.

The only other art I was offered was a nightcrawler cover of him in the green swirls, 71? It was $700 and I passed on it at the same show. Regerts.

Again still happy to have a very early issue cover, and the whole team on board including Lockheed.
