Description
An iconic page from the first issue (page 15). The art is very reminiscent of Jeffery Jones style and influence, yet purely Scott’s own. Dreamy and lush yet light, and vibrant. The ink and watercolor media. . .is just pure eye candy. Scott’s art in this four-issue series is most certainly the highlight. One of the first, if not thee first painted series in the industry. Scott came out swinging with his grand style and artistic vision. Oscar Wilde once said that “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” The comic industry has certainly imitated Scott’s painted vision! Great Scott! This has been in Scott’s personal collection since day one (40 years). Scott was reluctant to sell this page, and understandably so. I feel extremely fortunate to be the first OA “collector” to own this page outside of the artist. If there are any other collectors out there that have this page on their want list, you can strike this one off that list. This piece won’t be leaving my personal collection anytime soon. If ever. Back story: I first met Scott in 1983 right after Silver Heels was published. It was at a comic convention in Columbia, SC. He was gracious enough to sign the first and second issue of Silver Heels for me (which I still have).
