DescriptionCommissioned at NYCC 2022. The whole Kirby team was there and I couldn't decided which one to get a piece from, and had this blank sketch cover that was just begging to be drawn on. Ultimately went with Ms. Masellis as she was offering a great price and more importantly her style was fascinating to me and I wanted to present the challenge of this brand new costume design(which first appears in this very book she sketched on!) to her. She did not disappoint, this photo hardly does the painting justice, it truly pops of the page showing her mastery of color. I love her use of the Italian style of minimalist brushwork, which seems to be making a bit of a resurgence in the comics field. Likely won't be the last piece I acquire from her.Social/Sharing |

Watercolor may be tough to work with when watered down like this, but this shows a materclass with how the hair and the face is handled. It is flawless where it matters on the piece.
