Description

By 1986, George Perez had left the Titans book for Crisis and then the Wonder Woman relaunch. Eduardo Barreto took his place, but Gammill and Tanghal did 2/3 of this issue and all of #27 for some reason. Gammill exploits the additional possibilities afforded by the Baxter paper format, bleeding some panels off the page and overlapping others. A whirling red effect was added to the last panel as a surprint which has been separated from this page at some point. To get this level of detail, Gammill works in quite a large format, a 20x13 page.

The Titans are in Zandia, DC's version of Latveria, to face Brother Blood and his goons. This page shows the Titan's initial encounter with Twister, a new villainess with a misshapen, asymmetrical face. She gives them a dose of her disorienting, perception-warping powers that leaves them reeling. Beast Boy is having a particularly unpleasant time of it in that last panel.

Cool weird page with grat shots of Starfire. If only Gamill had drawn more (of Teen Titans).

Gammill's art paired with Tanghal looks more in line with what Perez left.  This had the tight and lush details that was synonymous with Teen Titans.

Gammill did way too few Titans issues. Twister always feeaked me out. Great example of why.
