Wrapped in furs and finery, sporting the famous helmet discovered in mound one at Sutton Hoo. This is Neil’s vision of the mysterious ship burial occupant. Thought to be Raedwald of East Anglia (c.599 - c.624). Raedwald was ‘Bretwalda’ (‘Britain Ruler or ‘Wide ruler’). Regardless of who was buried at Sutton Hoo, clearly they were of very high status, with a rich assemblage of grave goods.
