Description

Original poster artwork on illustration board for Bank Holiday, directed by Carol Reed and loosely modelled on Grand Hotel (MGM, 1932), Carol Reed's film follows the varying fortunes of a disparate group of Londoners who converge on the fictional Bexborough seaside resort during a sweltering bank holiday. Although in essence a lightweight romantic melodrama with comic elements, it also provides a fascinating glimpse into the mores of British social classes at leisure, deepened by the extensive use of location shooting. (Very) recent purchase from Heritage for my collection, paid for and pending shipping to me. Artist unknown.

Fun movie spectacle! Who doesn't need a holiday? The the great warm colors of this vintage painting still glow to spark the romantic feel.
