Description

A Groundhog Day cartoon created in the 1920s by Salsbury "Sals" Edgar Bostwick, an American newspaper cartoonist who died at the age of 27 after appendicitis surgery due to waiting too long for the procedure because he wanted to draw more cartoons in advance.

It is unknown if this was actually published, but this is believed to be a near finished piece with preliminary text.

"When Bostwick saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.
