Description
What a month! I didn’t just succeed in getting a proper Lee Bermejo Batman commission, but Comic Art Live allowed me to snag a published page of his, too!

This is page 11 of the third and final issue of “Batman/Deathblow: After The Fire”, published in 2003, featuring the very first collaboration between the Iconic & Dynamic Duo: Brian Azzarello & Lee Bermejo. It's been great reading up on the story behind the story in Lee's artbook. Apparently, Lee & Brian agreed to never work together again, in order to remain friends. Obviously (and luckily), that didn’t stick.

Considering he switched to digital work early during "Rorschach" in 2011-2012, I’m very happy to have one of the fewer traditionally pencilled pages by Lee, with great inks by Mick Gray.

In this page, we follow Agent Fante as she gets into her car & gets a phone call. Nothing too exciting, you’d think, but Lee makes it work in a cinematic way. Big fan of the closing close-up, which immediately drew me in.

Signed by Lee at the bottom.

Everything says 70's crime thriller to me until the cell phone pops up.  From the car, the secret file, and her fashion give off a vibe that is way ahead of its time.

Good call - it does have that vibe, for sure!

Bermejo and Gray's signature style is all over this page, congrats on a nice example!
