Paul Rivoche - Mister X Prelim for Promotional Poster, 1983

This is a preliminary Paul Rivoche created in 1983 for a poster to promote the Mister X series.
In this preliminary stage, Rivoche was experimenting with the placement of the “X”, placing them in the shadow of the trench coat, but restraining himself with the removal of the crossed spotlights in the background. Also there is a note in the margin about “Planes?” and “Bridges?”. The final drawing would see the addition of bridges to breakup the verticality present in the prelim and provide architectural variety. How’s that for a stuffy analysis?
