DescriptionJohnny Comet, Feb 27, 1952 - Geez, 70 years old...I have been after a Johnny Comet for a while - I remember when these were obvious bargains but never pulled the trigger. Comic art regrets, almost always what you didn't buy. When this early, larger than average daily (21" x 6") with Johnny, Jean, Pop, and a race car came to auction I decided I would make a solid attempt, thankfully, my last bid before breaking my budget was sufficient. Since acquiring this strip, I noticed it features the first appearance of Jean & Pop's #12 race car that Johnny drives for much of the strip, not that it matters much but cool nonetheless. There a quite a few Comet's on CAF - I'd advise checking them out! Entered in Best of 2022, earned 30 votes for 9th place -needed 6 more to be in Top 5 Social/Sharing |

Yup, this strip has it all. Plus Frazetta's magic touch. Congrats on this fantastic addition!

This is so crazy. I swear it was just the other day I was thinking how nice it would be to have one of these. Probably never going to happen for me, but glad I can enjoy this vicariously through you. Happy Holidays indeed. Congratulations!

Fantastic! So you are the one who won this. I really enjoyed owning this has all the right parts, the car, the girl and Johnny. I do miss it but glad it's found a good home. Major Congrats!

All panels are more than great, especially the 3rd one where the woman's face is gorgeous.

The brushwork is so lively and well placed with their curves and swoops giving a loving care to the car and the dame!

A fantastic example Mark, large format, beautiful Jean throughout, great shot of Johnny and the car too. Perfect signture and you get a beautiful vintage Frazetta world for less than the cost of a house!

I am dropping my truck off to the garage this morning for a service. I'm going to tell the mechanic when it comes back I want the exhaust to smell like bay rum just to see his reaction.

Wow, what else would you want in a Frazetta Comet strip? And, I have to say I love that early zipatone use. That first panel is masterful how he uses it to create depth in the panel. Even the signature is placed perfectly. Gorgeous
