From everything you hear and read about the man, he was a legendary curmudgeon... There wasn't a friendship that he didn't manage to sour for one reason or another. At some point was it them or was it the one common denominator - Alex.

Still love his art and the impact he had on everyone from Neal Adams to Sean Murphy.

For what it's worth, I believe Toth was bi-polar and even harder on himself than anyone else. He unfairly held everyone to his own impossible, hyper-critical standards. Ive noticed so many of his sketch pages with crossed out writing at the top. But it's such a shame that it stopped him from doing writing or comic work later in life and also that he couldn't find value in other artists work.

Just wow! Obviously Mike has laughed all the way to the bank (perhaps not his entire career, but certainly the latter half). Only Toth can tear you down and you feel positively elated for having had a legend like Alex even mention your name. Great stuff mate, thank you.
