DescriptionIn 1996, Lucasfilm launched Shadows of the Empire with great fanfare, first with a novel, then comic books and an avalanche of merchandise to satisfy the cravings of Star Wars fans. Shadows of the Empire got the same treatment as a Star Wars movie, sans a theatrical release. The story takes place between the timeline of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, introducing fascinating new characters Xizor and Dash Rendar to the Star Wars universe. As a part of the SOTE launch, Dark Horse Comics released a six-issue miniseries that same year which focused more on the storyline of Boba Fett and his rivalry with other bounty hunters. After the series ended its run, Dark Horse compiled all six issues into a trade paperback edition. Artist Christopher Moeller known for his gorgeous acrylic painting illustrations was picked to create the TPB cover. Moeller was a prolific Star Wars artist in 1996, working on multiple projects including trading cards, magazine cover, comic book covers and a fully illustrated book. This impressive film poster-esque cover prominently featuring Boba Fett is on a large 20" x 30" illustration board with edge to edge artwork. Social/Sharing |

From arguably the best Star Wars movie-without-a-movie marketing push until we got The High Republc (which may yet still see a TV show or film). Moeller was a champ in this era of our galaxy far, far away. Fantastic addition Han!

Thanks Jeff! I remember going from hyper excitment to a big dissappointment once I realized SOTE was not a Star Wars film. I still went out and bought a bunch of toys and trading cards. :D

Beautiful painting! The movie poster presentation is great with all the legends in full view! The power of the force is strong in this one.

Wow! What a classic cover featuring the original Star Wars characters! I remember reading this TPB back before there were hundreds of Star Wars sequels, spinoffs, and other vaguely related properties. Great pick-up!
