Description
Carl Barks "Eureka! A Goose Egg Nugget!" Signed Preliminary Drawing (Walt Disney, 1996). Scrooge makes the find that started his incredible fortune, in this preliminary drawing for one of Carl Barks' very last Disney Duck paintings. "Eureka! A Goose Egg Nugget" was also the basis for a detailed sculpted figurine (one is included in this auction). The scene was inspired by one of the early Uncle Scrooge comic book stories by Mr. Barks, "Back to the Klondike" in Four Color #456 (1952). This great image of Scrooge with his pickaxe, holding the Goose Egg Nugget, is drawn in blue, red, and yellow color pencils on 8.5" x 11" onionskin paper, with an approximate image size of 7" x 9". The drawing is hand-signed in the lower margin by Carl Barks (1901 - 2000), and noted as version 3 in the lower left. Condition is Excellent with light handling.

Barks' construction of this scene imbues a genuine amazement for Scrooge before he was jaded with all his riches.
